General information

To provide paternity testing, it is necessary to take a cell sample from the alleged father, child, and preferably, from the child´s mother. The cell sample contains DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). It is not necessary to take blood to get a cell sample. Taking samples is performed without any discomfort, by rubbing a buccal swab (a special fine brush) on the inside surface of the mouth. Cells that will serve as the source of DNA are captured on the brush´s bristles. When specific regions of tested persons´ DNA are compared, paternity is possible to exclude or confirm with a very high degree of probability.

As this type of testing is anonymous, the resulting information is intended only for them and it is not possible to use it in a court of law as evidence.
