Generally, there are two types of results*:

1st possibility: excluding paternity-ship - it confirms that a man is not a child´s father. This result is undeniable.

2nd possibility: confirming paternity-ship - a man is a child´s father with a probability that exceeds 99.99 (in three-part paternity testing), or exceeds 99.8% (in two-part paternity testing). The real probability is set by a calculation in each distinct case and it is often even much higher. In other words, the calculated probability expresses a probability of the occurrence of men in the population who match the same polymorphic alleles of the tested man. With such a high probability, it is possible to indicate a man as a child´s father.
Possibilities of results of paternity test are discussed in detail in the brochure inside the P-TEST.

Protocol

Besides the paternity test, you can order a protocol from the paternity test. We distinguish 2 types of protocols:

  • "simplified laboratory protocol" comprising brief data results (it contains a table with type of alleles of tested individuals)
  • "comprehensive laboratory protocol" that contains a complete documentation including machine data (in addition to the table with type of alleles it contains a picture record from detection of alleles in fragment analysis).

Sending of the protocol is charged, therefore when a protocol is ordered it is necessary to add the price of the protocol to the price of the test. The protocol can be ordered together with the paternity test or additionally, within a year after result has been completed.

Comparison of results from various laboratories

If the test was carried out in our lab and another test was done in another lab, the results of the analysis of the tested polymorphisms should be compared, it is necessary to have a simplified laboratory protocol at your disposal. However, both results may be either partly or fully incomparable due to the fact that another lab used different polymorphisms for the analysis, or in the worse case, did not publish the types of alleles.
